Twin Lakes new owners Luca, Bryan and Ange all share a passion for people, the outdoors, the expansive property that is Twin Lakes, and of course fly fishing.
Twin Lakes Trout Fishery and Sporting Retreat is situated between Buckland and Nugent, a 50 minute drive from Hobart. It is only one and a half hours from Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport and a mere hop and a skip away from the famous Port Arthur historical site.
Twin Lakes is close to the Coal Valley, beautiful Richmond and a short drive to Tasmania's world renowned wineries. We can pick you up and return you to the airport or your hotel. The best of Tassie at your fingertips.....
Set on 3000 acres, half of which is a federally funded forest conservation area supporting endangered flora and fauna, Twin Lakes has breathtaking views. Many bush trails on the property make an ideal place for walking and mountain bike riding and an abundant wildlife population makes it the prefect place for nature lovers.
There are 2 lakes, Monty's and Nifty's and both have been stocked with wild fingerling Brown and Rainbow Trout. Stocking the lakes commenced in 2002 and most fish are in the 5 to 6 year old age group with an average weight of around 10 pounds. Every anglers dream!!!!
There are also huge Atlantic Salmon along with Tiger Trout and Brooke Trout.
The fish in Twin Lakes have obtained superb growth rates because of the excellent eco systems in these spring fed waters. Along with an abundance of natural food and a strict catch and release policy, Twin Lakes is without doubt Austalia's best privately owned trophy water. The best Rainbow so far has topped the 20 pounds mark and the heaviest Brown just over 16lb...there are bigger ones in there!!! This gives every angler a lifetime opportunity to catch a double figure Trout. When you then throw in 20lb plus Atlantic Salmon, and fresh release Tiger Trout and Brooke Trout it gives anglers the very rare opportunity to catch all 5 species in a single day.
Lakes is professionally managed. Our Guides, are accomplished fly fishermen and have many years of experience and really know how to get the most out of the Fishery.
Twin Lakes offers 4 star accommodation in Monty's lakeside cottage. This quaint 3 bedroom hideaway is eco friendly and solar powered. Complete with a well appointed dining area and all the trimmings of home, Monty's can accommodate up to 6 guests. Monty's comfortable beds can be linked together for king size or singles depending on your requirements. For those that don't want to self cater, Twin Lakes can provide a full array of country style cuisine at your request.There is nothing more spectacular than to sit in Monty's luxurious hot tub and watch 3 million stars twinkling against a pitch black background. As an alternative, guests can sit around Monty's wood fire and share a glass of local wine or shut their eyes in front of the flickering flames and dream of tomorrow's trout!!From the spectacular sunrises and sunsets to spotting tailing trout in the margins of the two lakes you will find everything you dreamt of here at Twin Lakes.
