D.N.A Barra Fishing - Northern Territory

In the post and pre wet periods in the Top End, D.N.A Barra Fishing are the operators that have the Kakadu and Arnhemland areas well wired.
Daune and his guides have had many years combined fishing experience in the Northern Territory. They have a passion for fishing and want to share their knowledge and experience with their clients!
Each of the guides hold tickets from a Master 5 to Coxswain, all are fully licensed and accredited tour operators along with first aid qualifications. You can rest assured that you are in the best possible hands. The guides will only be too pleased to take photographs of your catch to remember this rewarding and unique opportunity to fish the waters of the Northern Territory.

D.N. A. concerntrate on two main areas in the N.T.

The "Run-Off"

March, April and May the operation centres in the East and South Alligator River areas living aboard the very comfortable air-conditioned mothership "Tropic Paradise".
The run off after the wet season is famous for big barramundi action, and if you choose to fish the king tides, your wont be disappointed. They also fish the neap tides when you will be able to target a hugh range of species including barra, black jewfish, threadfin salmon, blue salmon, golden snapper, queenfish, giant and golden trevally to name a few.
You will be fishing the mighty South and East Alligator Rivers, Merganella Creek, Salt Water Creek, as well as Barron and Field Islands. Because of the remote location of Kakadu you will be fishing without the hassle of crowds.

Travelling to Kakadu, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Darwin and cruise in the comfort of air-conditioned Toyota Landcruisers to the South Alligator River boat ramp. From there you travel downstream by boat to the mouth of the South, across to the East Alligator River, then up to Coopers Creek where "Tropic Paradise"' is anchored. Jump on board, settle in and wake up the next day to begin fishing. On return you will be back in Darwin by the afternoon to either fly home or extend your time in the Top End.

The "Build Up"

During October, November and December the operation moves to the Arnhemland region.
Fishing the prsitine waters of Arnhem land in the Northern Territory you will be targeting all the species mentioned above as well as mangrove jacks.

The main fishing areas will be the Mini Mini River system, Iwaig Creek and Ilamaryi Rivers as well as many other systems in between.

Traveling from Darwin to the Mini Mini System is done in air-conditioned Toyota Landcruisers to the South Alligator River, boat to the mouth where mothership "Browse Enterprise" will cruise you to your destination in Arnhem land. Wake up the next morning ready to fish! The return journey is basically the reverse.

The Mothership
The "Tropic Paradise" is a 18m charter vessel. It can sleep up to 15 people in comfortable air-conditioned cabins. It can cruise at 14 knots with 18 knots top speed. There is a fully equipped galley, huge saloon area, washer / dryer, as well as three toilets / showers makes this a very comfortable vessel.

Meals
Breakfast and dinner on the mothership with lunches, cool drinks and water prepared for the fishing boats. Fresh fish and mudcrabs can always be on the menu.
Please advise if there are any dietary requirements and meals can be tailor made for you.
Alcohol is not included but a pre order (at your expense) and we will ensure that a cold one will be waiting for you after a hectic days fishing!

The Fishing Boats
The vessels can handle up to 4 clients in comfort. The boats are Oceanmasters 651 Twisters, custom built for the Territory with your safety and comfort the priority. The experienced guides have been fishing the Territory for over 30 years so you can be assured that you are in good hands.

Trip Length
Most charters are 7 days / 6 nights although this may vary as trips are tide dependant. Each trip requires approximately a half day there and back which means a 7 day /6 night trip gives you 5 full days on the water fishing.

Please enquire about a float plane transfer from Darwin to get to your destination 4 to 5 hours quicker.

We can also supply costs for 3 and 4 day fishing packages as well as the standard 5 days of fishing.
